DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 1: (Friday) Hanoi – Lao Cai
At 20:00, we will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi and transfer you to the Hanoi railway station to board the Express Train to Lao Cai. Overnight stay in an air-conditioned soft sleeper wooden cabin. (4 pax/cabin or 2 pax/cabin upon request).
Day 2: (Saturday) Lao Cai – Can Cau market – Bac Ha (B,L,D)
At 6:00, you will arrive at the Lao Cai train station, where you will be greeted by your local guide and driver. After breakfast at a restaurant, we will transfer you to the Can Cau market. The market, situated in a valley surrounded by mountains, represents the cultural values of minority groups residing in remote mountainous regions in Vietnam. You will witness boys and girls dressed in colorful costumes representing the various colors of the mountains attending the market in search of their life partners. It’s also an opportunity for them to converse and negotiate with people from different ethnic groups over a cup of wine. On the way to Bac Ha, we will take you to visit a Flower H’mong village and then check you into your hotel in Bac Ha. You will have free time to explore the town, and dinner will be served at a local restaurant. Overnight stay at your preferred hotel in Bac Ha (Sao Mai or Thien Thanh hotel – the best in town).
Day 3: (Sunday) Bac Ha market – Sapa (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will take a walk to the Bac Ha market, a bustling market filled with people from various hill tribes. It’s the most colorful market in Northern Vietnam. Here, you will have a chance to sample the unique and simple cuisine of the Bac Ha people, along with special wines made from rice, cassavas, corn, plums, apples, and peaches. Use your guide as an interpreter to communicate with the locals. Leave the market for the H’mong King’s house (King Hoang A Tuong), built by French colonists. Return to town for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Ban Pho village. On the way back to Sapa, we will drop you off to see the Vietnamese and Harbor Mouth in Lao Cai. You will reach Sapa late in the afternoon. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant, and you will spend the night at your chosen hotel in Sapa.
Day 4: (Monday) Sapa – Lao Cai – Hanoi (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take you downhill by jeep to the valley and then walk through three Black H’mong and Dzay villages. You will have lunch with a Dzay family. Return to Sapa and have dinner at a local restaurant. Then, we will take you by jeep to the Lao Cai station for the night train to Hanoi. Overnight stay in an air-conditioned soft sleeper wooden cabin. End of services.
